THE WORLD ZIONIST CONGRESS (WZC) is the direct continuation of The First Zionist Congress, convened by Theodor Herzl in 1897. The WZC, which meets every five years, is the only democratically elected global Jewish forum. Today the WZC is the overall ideological and policy-making body of the Zionist movement.

The delegates at the WZC influence the policies of Israel’s National Institutions, including the World Zionist Organization (WZO), the Jewish Agency, and others – which together allocate nearly $1 billion annually in funding in support of Israel and Jewish communities around the world.
